About This File

This is a modified version of SAM that removes dependencies on scripts and .esp to allow the genitals to show when fully nude by resizing and placing the genital texture on the body texture layout.  As a result, body morphs are not supported.  It's a basic body replacer along the same lines as Better Males and SOS Light.  Compatible with classic Skyrim and Special Edition.

This mod is not an official release of SAM.  Therefore, if you encounter any issues with it, please do not contact Vector about them.

Difference between full SAM

  • Lightweight due to no scripts or .esp used
  • No body morphs*
  • No dynamic body type and genital adjustments
  • No dynamic body texture options
  • Revealing armor with "SAMRevealing" node not supported
  • Werewolf and Vampire Lord not supported

*morph functionality can be added with SAM Morphs for RaceMenu

Installation

If using a mod manager, just follow the installer.

Manual installation

  • 00 and 01 are required for core functionality.
  • 02 Genital Option - Select between Cut, Uncut, or Underwear (non-nude) version
  • 03 Human Body Texture - Select one body texture for human races
  • 04 Khajiit Body Texture - Select one body texture for Khajiit race

Custom Textures

If you'd like to use your own body textures, use the layout template to resize and align the genital correctly.
Base texture 2k, resize genital texture to 256x256
Base texture 4k, resize genital texture to 512x512
Align genital texture in the green box, create selection mask with the green color, and delete the selection.

Due to genital texture resizing, minor texture seams may be visible.

Regarding Refits

Armor refits are not required for basic functionality.  They're only needed if you use SAM Morphs for RaceMenu and want the morph features.

Credit goes to Vector for the creation of Shape Atlas for Men.

Was wondering if anyone could help me with SAM Light for SSE. I can run the game perfectly fine.. but once I remove clothing from my character the game crashes, I'm assuming because theres something wrong with my SAM Light. I did choose the option for SE instead of Oldrim. The game was running perfectly with SOS Light but I uninstalled that, deleted all of my saves, and made a new character. I am certain this is specifically a problem w this mod because the game runs fine otherwise. I use LOOT and NMM, if that matters.

Are your current PC an Altmer or Bosmer (male) ?

I have tried nord, bosmer, and argonian. All 3 races crash my game.

Then, try to (re-)install xpmsse.

It sounds like a skeleton issue.

Hi folks,

Using the default SAM Light in SSE and I'm getting a slight texture seam around the necks.  I am using MO2, and no other face texture mods.  Visible when both naked and clothed.

Is this normal (as it is quite minor), or have I installed something wrong?  Happens on my character and all NPCs.

Make sure you're using refits made compatible with SE.  The old refits are using the old morph format that's no longer supported by RaceMenu for SE.

That's a vanilla bug that also exists in Oldrim.  The male head mesh uses a different lighting than the body for the skin shader.  All male NPC's are affected.  The solution is detailed on Seamless Males.

Rhavik has refits for the vanilla SAM body for SE.  If you use SAM High Poly Conversion, it also includes its own refits.

Looks like I have both installed and you mentioned that SAM High Poly Conversion has them so that would mean I don’t really need the Vanilla SAM refits...correct?

If you have the latest version of high poly SAM installed, then it already includes proper refits for SE.  It's best to use one refit set unless you know which specific armor refits you want.

Thank you for your reply.

I gave that Seamless Males mod a try however unfortunately, it hasn't made any difference.  I also tried placing the .nif file in manually with the other SAM light files and tried using it on a default Skyrim install with no other mods, but to no avail.

If you tried using it were you able to get it working properly with SAM light?

Thanks again.

I double checked the SAM Light textures in Nifskope, and the issue lies mainly in the normal maps (and to a lesser extent, the diffuse maps).  Since the normal maps aren't compressed, the issue originates from the original SAM.

I can blend the textures together along neck to eliminate the seams and fix the seams in the back of the head while I'm at it.  The fix from Seamless Males will still be needed if you want to eliminate the neck seams on males completely.

  • Use the haririer genital variatiion of SAM light skin. Hair overlay does not work on the genital sub-part of the body mesh. I'd rather recommend to make your custom texture with PBI genital mesh from 3mw textures.
  • I'm not sure from your attached SS, however, whether any skin texture is applied to the genital sub mesh. Are you using SAM-full skin for SAM light? The former does not have the skin for the genital part for the main body skin texture (malebody_1.dds) so not compatible with SAM light.

I'm using the hairiest option on SAM Light.

The SAM-related mods I am running are SAM Light v1.2, SAM High Poly Conversion v1.4, SAM Morphs for Race Menu v1.0.2, and SAM Light Texture Add-on v1.0.

I would double check that you chose the correct settings for all those mods in the fomod installer

That looks like a body texture meant for SAM, not SAM Light.  They're not compatible since SAM lacks genitals on the body textures.

Hi! Can add "malebody_1.nif and malebody_0.nif" 3D Pubic Hair options?

Can mask a round pubic bald patch around the genitalia.

Thank you.
