SAM High Poly Conversion 1.4

About This File

This is a high poly conversion of SAM meshes.  The resulting meshes are smooth and contain around 4x the amount of vertices while still being usable for general gameplay.  It started out as something for my own personal use, but I decided to share it with everyone.  The current release covers body, hand, and feet meshes.  Compatible with SAM and SAM Light.

High Poly Body Mesh

  • high poly body for both SAM and SAM Light variants
  • underwear was given high poly treatment
  • there are some minor sharp edges on certain poses due to weights
  • if you're on a low end system and worried about performance, stick with the default body mesh

High Poly Hand Mesh new

  • high poly hands for playable human and beast races
  • new mesh is based on the vanilla HandMaleBig mesh
  • optional fingernail mesh to enhance details
  • hand mesh v2 requires manual texture editing for fingernail textures

High Poly Feet Mesh

  • symmetrical feet meshes (original mesh had a smaller right foot)
  • optional toenail mesh to enhance details even further
  • feet mesh v2 requires manual texture editing for toenail textures

Refits new

  • full vanilla refits made specifically for high poly SAM
  • minor clipping may occur during movement
  • currently does not include:  briarheart body mesh, rings, amulets, USLEEP/USSEP changes

Fingernail/Toenail Mesh Texture

  • v1 mesh uses a separate texture for the fingernails/toenails.  Color won't change, but certain skin tones might make the nails look out of place.
  • v2 mesh requires the fingernail/toenail textures to be on the same texture as the hand/body.  This allows the use of the skin shader to change the color of the nails to match skin tone.  Use the provided texture resources to copy and paste the fingernails into the hand textures and the toenails into the body textures.

Installation

If using a mod manager, just follow the installer.

Manual Installation

  • 00 and 01 - high poly body mesh, select between SAM or SAM Light (cut or uncut)
  • 02 - hand mesh, select between high poly hand with or without fingernail meshes
  • 03 - feet mesh, select between high poly feet with or without toenail meshes
  • 04 - refits, each subfolder covers a specific armor part (body, hand, feet), base folder covers all armor that does not include skin

That's the vanilla hand mesh that was used in an older version of SAM and possibly SOS.  The high poly hand mesh in this mod has fingernails protruding at the tips while my HDT-BBB mod doesn't include a hand mesh at all.  Check if you're using another HDT-PE mod since those tend to have malehand meshes used for collisions.

I actually like the general shape of that hand mesh better and have been meaning to fix the UV/mesh seams and make a high poly version of it.

Found out it came from the HDT Pussy Mod, since it has the Body aswell. But I notice a slightly gap at the neck and hands tho. I mean, it's only a slight gap and maybe it was there all the time, just did not notice it... xD

Hm.. you're right.  I double checked and the vertex weights are correct, but the Spine 2 skin transformations used for the neck is off by 0.0001 units.  A fix for it will be added to the next update.

@KouLeifoh I hate to be a bitch but is there a bodyslide shape data for this? Or do I just use the bodyslide reference of the Low poly SAM?

The shapes are roughly the same size as the low poly SAM.  There shouldn't be an issue with clipping unless the armor you're trying to refit is skin tight.

Thank you sooo much again for the update and refit KouLeifoh! I really appreciate your dedication and hardwork to create high quality and stable content for SAM mod (especially SAM light for SSE player like me). Would you also plan to update your armor mod (Darren, Geralt Wolf, Geralt Ursine, and Kyron) for high poly mesh? Can't wait for more SAM light content from you. Have a nice day and keep up the good work! :x:x:x

I want to keep those armor mods self-contained in a single .bsa file.  The high poly mesh addon will have to be done as loose files given how there are multiple options for the hand mesh.  I'll definately be updating them though.

The new Nails look freakin awesome! No longer these weird long nails, can't thank you enough KouLeifoh :)

The old fingernails were based on the original SAM hand textures.  I wanted to keep them compatible, but the nails turned out oddly long and out of place.  The new ones are much better, but some editing on the textures will need to be done to have a clean look.

Thanks for the info can't wait for the update. By the way i've been trying some refits of early game armors and all of them looks so good but there is a little problem with hide armor. For some reason it does'nt follow the actual shape of the body and there is a gap between the neck and the body.

That's an issue with cuirasslight_0.nif of the hide armor.  It was one of the first armor I refitted months ago.  I had auto-clean enabled in Nifskope and the parity between that and the unclean cuirasslight_1.nif caused NIF Optimizer to spit out different filesizes for both.  This is only an issue for SE.  I made a hotfix for it that will be added to the next update once it's meaty enough.  The whole hide armor line has a lot of clipping issues on the vanilla meshes.  It might require redoing the vertex weights entirely.

ughh i give up, i decided to update my mod today since the one i have is 1.2 and i found some bugs in argonian characters which i thought were fixed in 1.4, but everytime my download is at like half i get a "network error" and have to download everything back

What bugs with argonians are you having?  There are some fixes that can only be done through .esp which I want to avoid doing.

I uploaded this mod to google drive as a mirror for those that have issues downloading large files from this site.  SAM Light will be added as well once I get the next update finished.

Hi! SAM Light High Poly Conversion Can add "malebody_1.nif and malebody_0.nif" 3D Pubic Hair options?

Can mask a round pubic bald patch around the genitalia.

Thank you.

Amazing job as always. I hope you will add clothes/armors from unofficial patch, they fixed many bugs from the vanilla game.

That's planned in the next update along with fixes for some of the clipping in my refits.

Damn, these meshes look absolutely amazing! And the vanilla armor refits you included are a nice touch too! I use the regular SAM mod in Skyrim LE w/this. I do have a problem though. The Fur Bracers do not show when equipped and the forearms and hands disappear. I tested this mod in SE w/ SAM Light and did not have that issue.

Not sure if I'm the only one experiencing this. But it's an amazing mod all-in-all! :D72850_20190219085548_1.thumb.png.bd2df8ced837e71767a56750a252772e.png

I forgot to include the refits for bandit/leather/draugr gloves for beast races since they're specific to the regular SAM.

Ooooh, alright! Guess I'll have to deal with this first while I wait for the next update. Good work nonetheless! Thanks so much for your mods! ^_^

Are there comparison pics anywhere between this and the regular SAM body? Can't decide if I should hold off until there are more refit fixes/custom armors or go ahead and take the plunge.

You don't need refits specifically for the high poly body in order to use it. Your armors will just have whichever body they were made with. As for the parts not involving the body, they will probably fit fine.

You're right, I gave it a shot and none of the custom outfits look weird. But is it weird that I can't really tell the difference?
