Arrows are way off my crosshair, need help!

Recommended Posts

So my problem is basically this: https://i.imgur.com/5pikMuS.jpg

My arrows are way off the bow and my crosshair. I looked up videos of archery to make sure it looks different in vanilla and it really does. Every other weapon is fine and the bow itself doesn't clip through anything. Here is my mods with their load order made by the latest LOOT:

As you might've noticed I do have SAM Light, Racial Body Morphs, RaceMenu with all the sliders, etc., but changing the shape of my character barely changes anything. The arrow is still pointing in a completely wrong direction, which is what makes it clip and it's really frustrating. Anyone have any idea what could be causing that?

Have you recently re-installed XPMSE?

If I remember correctly, one or two versions before of XPMSE had accidentaly turned [The Joys of Perspective] on by default.

Updating XPMSE to the latest (v 4.51) and re-install it while turning this option off may help you.

Also, XPMSE.esp should almost always should come last in your load order. If this is the order indeed suggested by your LOOT, I rather choose not to follow this suggestion.

Have you tried editing the ini files in my documents?

In skyrim.ini under [Combat] there's two lines that affects the arrow shooting angle from the crosshair..

f1PArrowTiltUpAngle=0.7
f3PArrowTiltUpAngle=0.7

I dunno if 0.7 is the default value or not but most people say it's the most accurate..

Hey sengaku, I replied to your already on a different website, but I have actually recently reinstalled XPMSE and turned Joy off, so that isn't the problem.
I will, however, try and put XPMSE last in my load order and let you know if that fixes it when I get to playing the game.

I shall try that too.

Sooooo.. GOOD NEWS!!!
I tried doing this and it worked. The arrow is much further up than before. BUT!
It is still left of my crosshair. I tried writing f1PArrowTiltRightAngle=0.7 in another line, but that didn't change anything.
Is there something I can do to make it go to the right?
BTW, here's a comparison pic, it's like this not matter in which direction I point:

Racial Body Morphs I recommended you the other day can also be a culprit, since it has to adjust 1st person view camera in accordance with the adjusted height of each race/ gender.

It is not so likely, however, that Argonian is not so extraordinally small/ big compared to other races (but I have only tried subtle one, so not so 100% sure).

Well, I'd really like to keep that and it seems that the method that I've tried is working. I just need to move it to the right now. Is that possible?

BTW, thanks for your RBM suggestion. Really love that. Unfortunately I wasn't smart enough to know how to use bodyslide to adjust the body shapes even further, though xd

Oh wow, I see what you mean.. I didn't see the pic before but now I can tell that the arrow is way off.. The ini settings only affect vertical tilting as far as I know, not sure if there's any other way.. And if that didn't fix it, then its probably one of your mods that's causing it.. Try turning off all mods related to bows, arrows and archery overhauls including animation and load your game, see if that fixes anything..

Also, like y_sengaku said, maybe its related to your character's racial body morph? I'd look into that if I were you but since I've only ever played as a generic nord character I can't help you much there..

Also also, I'm curious.. Are the arrows only tilted to the left while aiming or its trajectory when shooting is also messed up ?

Sorry, I don't know .ini tweak for archecy, but AFAIK no light-left tilt tweaks. According to S.T.E.P, just upward (-downward) tilt.

The only archery mod that I have is arrow recovery system. Is it safe to turn that off mid-game? I will try anyways, though.

I tried changing my character's body here and there but it didn't change anything.

I don't believe the trajectory when shooting is messed up, no. It's more of a graphical annoyance, and a big one at that, thing.

Oof. I wish it was that easy, though. The one that tilted my arrow up felt like magic for a second.

You don't have to turn it off permanently, just turn off the mod, play the game, see if that fixes anything.. If it didn't just exit the game without saving and turn the mod on again .. Although arrow retrieval mods should not have affected your arrow aiming so I don't think that's it..

Do you use any combat animation replacers? Like archery gameplay overhauls? And if you did have you ran FNIS and checked the appropriate patch for it? In fact, you should just ran FNIS again anyway just to be sure..

Another thing, can you try starting a new game and play as a human character, and see if it also have that weird angle glitch ?

Actually, this is gonna be awkward, and I know I should've done this from the beginning, but I created a new, non-buff character and their aim was just fine. I HAVE tried making my body less buff and all before, but I haven't tested new characters. I'm not ready to give up my character though, so now I will just have to try and figure out on my own what exact slider it is that causes it.

Thanks for your help everyone and sorry for all the trouble. I will post again when I find out what exactly messes it up.

Well good luck with that.. It's still a weird glitch though and I'm kinda curious to know what exactly caused it .. Not sure if the 'buffness' or your character has anything to do with it though since I had my character set to maximum buff that he basically had tits at this point and my aim is fine.. In any case, if you happen to find out what's behind all this be sure to post it here.. Who knows, it might be helpful to someone with similar situations to yours..

Okay, so, I think I figured it out.

No fucking idea how I even missed this, but anything to do with hand or palm size and length, or just length for everything else that has to do with your character's arms, can mess your bow aim by a ton. If anyone else is having the same problem as me, try messing with those.

And, once again, thank you so much everyone for trying to help. The problem is now fixed.

Time to try and adapt my lizard's body.
